If someone is in immediate danger, call police on 110, fire services on 119 or first aid on 120. This article is practical travel guidance, not a replacement for emergency services, medical care or instructions shown in the live app.
Read the exact prompt before retrying. Check that the passport name, document number, nationality and expiry date match the document, and allow the camera to capture a clear, glare-free image. A failed face check can also come from poor light, blocked camera permissions or movement rather than an invalid passport.
- Move to stable Wi-Fi or mobile data and good front lighting.
- Clean the camera lens, remove hats or tinted glasses and keep your whole face inside the frame.
- Re-enter identity details exactly as printed in the passport.
- If the same error returns, stop repeated attempts and use WeChat Help & Feedback or the support path shown on the verification screen.
A travel eSIM may provide data without receiving SMS sent to your home number. Confirm which SIM owns the registered number, that it remains active and that roaming or international SMS is allowed by the carrier.
- Check the country code and the final digits of the number.
- Temporarily select the home SIM for SMS while leaving data on the working SIM if your phone supports it.
- Wait for the stated resend timer; do not request many codes in quick succession.
- If codes still fail, contact the mobile carrier or use the app recovery option instead of borrowing a stranger’s number.
Use the live Takeout or Ele.me entry shown in Alipay, or a recognized delivery app. Some flows still require a mainland Chinese phone number or a reachable local contact; availability and labels vary by city and app version.
- Ask whether the hotel accepts deliveries and copy its full Chinese address.
- Set the exact entrance or front desk and add 请送到酒店前台,谢谢。 when that matches hotel policy.
- If registration rejects your number, do not enter a stranger’s number. Ask the hotel whether staff can help place or receive the order.
- If the courier calls, keep the order screen open and show the hotel name to the front desk. Otherwise choose a nearby restaurant or hotel meal.
An English business name or copied map pin may point to the wrong entrance. Search the Chinese place name and address in the current multilingual Amap, then compare the district, nearby landmark and entrance.
- Ask the hotel or venue for its Chinese name, full address and telephone number.
- Save a screenshot that includes the entrance, nearby road and landmark.
- For airports, railway stations and large malls, add the terminal, floor, gate or exit number.
- Show the Chinese address to staff instead of asking an unverified stranger to reinterpret the route.
Stay at the pickup point shown in the live order. At airports and stations, the correct terminal, road level, exit and official ride-hailing zone matter more than the phone’s blue dot.
- Check the terminal, floor, exit or numbered pillar before moving.
- Use the in-app call or translated message and send 我在X号出口。 (“I am at Exit X.”).
- Confirm the driver, vehicle and plate before opening the door.
- If you still cannot meet, remain in a staffed public place, read the cancellation consequence and use app support, the official taxi rank or a booked transfer.
First check whether the wallet shows a completed or pending charge. Then separate the likely cause: network, wallet identity check, card issuer, merchant or mini-program acceptance.
- Do not repeat the same payment until you know whether the first attempt settled.
- Try the second prepared wallet or physical card once.
- Ask the card issuer whether it blocked an overseas or online transaction.
- Use RMB cash for the immediate purchase when accepted, then resolve the wallet through its official support trail.
International cards are useful at many hotels and larger businesses, but acceptance is not universal at small merchants or inside every mini-program. A card saved in a wallet is prepared, not guaranteed.
- Try the staffed card terminal and confirm the amount before entering the PIN.
- Keep both mobile wallets available with a supported card if possible.
- Withdraw or exchange a modest amount of RMB through a legitimate bank or ATM and keep it as backup.
- Ask the hotel before a late arrival whether the deposit and room payment accept your card.
Enter passport details exactly as printed. The official English site accepts valid foreign passports. When automatic checks do not complete, the official upload process asks for a clear passport information page and a photo of you holding the passport; the listed manual review time is 3–5 working days.
- Upload clear JPG, JPEG or PNG images under the current file-size limit shown by 12306; the official page currently states under 10 MB.
- Do not keep changing name order or document details after submission.
- If travel is soon, take the original passport to a staffed railway ticket office and ask what purchase or verification route is available.
- Keep the original passport with you for ticket purchase and boarding checks.
Protect the next essential action, not every app. Reduce brightness and background use, then save the information that still works when the phone turns off.
- Screenshot the hotel’s Chinese address, current ticket, ride order and one emergency contact.
- Tell a trusted person where you are before the battery dies.
- Use a legitimate charging point or rented power bank and keep the phone in sight.
- Carry a cable and power bank that comply with the transport rules for your journey.
Move to a staffed, well-lit place such as a hotel front desk, transport information counter, police station or hospital reception. Use one short translated sentence and show only the booking, address or passport detail the legitimate operator needs.
- State what you need now: hotel, station, payment, doctor or police.
- Show the exact Chinese address or order number and keep originals in your possession.
- Contact the hotel, transport operator, insurer or travel provider through a saved official channel.
- For immediate danger call 110; for fire call 119; for first aid call 120. If a passport is lost, report it to the local police station.
