Confirm that the exact device supports eSIM and is unlocked for another carrier. Apple advises checking device and carrier compatibility, installing the plan with a stable connection and following the provider’s activation instructions. Other manufacturers have their own steps.
Do not delete an eSIM profile merely because the first connection is slow; some profiles cannot be restored without the provider. Keep the QR code or activation details secure and never publish them.

Use an authorized service point and read the live plan details: number validity, included data, domestic calls, top-ups and cancellation. Airport stock and opening hours vary, so keep airport Wi-Fi, roaming or an installed eSIM as the first-hour fallback.
An active data plan means the phone can connect to a mobile network; it does not promise that every app, website or cloud account will work in the same way. Routing and service availability vary by provider and can change.
Check the provider’s current China terms for the specific services you rely on. This guide does not recommend bypassing local restrictions. Save tickets, hotel details, addresses and essential contacts offline regardless of the plan you choose.
Before landing, download the eSIM instructions, hotel address in Chinese, first transport route and important bookings. Charge the phone and power bank. If mobile data fails, move to official airport Wi-Fi or a staffed carrier desk instead of repeatedly changing settings you cannot restore.
Keep a second way to receive messages or contact the hotel. A little redundancy matters more than finding a supposedly perfect plan.
