These Terms and Conditions (the Terms) apply when you visit locallenschina.com (the Website), use our itinerary-planning tools, submit a travel enquiry or book a travel service offered under the Local Lens China brand. We refer to the Website, its travel-planning and enquiry features, and those travel services collectively as the Services.

1. Who we are

Local Lens China is a trading brand used by Yidefeinuo (Shanghai) Culture Media Co., Ltd. (registered Chinese name: 意德斐诺(上海)文化传媒有限公司), a limited liability company established under the laws of the People's Republic of China, with registered address Room 701, Nos. 190 and 200 Haifang Road, Jing'an District, Shanghai, China (Local Lens China, we, us or our).

The legal entity named above holds the tourism business qualifications required for the travel Services it sells. It is the seller and contracting party for those Services and is responsible to the traveller for accurate product descriptions, booking performance, service delivery and refunds. We may engage guides, drivers, attractions and other qualified local suppliers to perform individual components, but their involvement does not transfer or reduce our responsibility to the traveller unless applicable law expressly provides otherwise.

Our general, booking, billing, refund, legal, privacy and security contact is:

  • Email: locallenschina@yeah.net

This mailbox is monitored. We aim to acknowledge enquiries and support requests within 24 hours of receipt.

2. Acceptance and eligibility

By using the Website, submitting an enquiry or placing an order, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. Where checkout asks for express acceptance, you must actively accept the then-current Terms and Privacy Policy before completing payment.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a contract to make a booking. If you book for other travellers, you confirm that you are authorised to provide the information reasonably required for the booking and to communicate the confirmed itinerary and applicable conditions to them. You may not waive another adult traveller's legal rights without authority.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not place an order or use a paid Service.

3. What we provide

The Website may provide:

  • free destination information and editorial travel guides;
  • automated or human-assisted itinerary-planning features;
  • travel enquiry and itinerary-review services;
  • bookable travel experiences, which may include day tours, multi-day itineraries, private guiding, transport, admission tickets, cultural activities or other confirmed travel arrangements; and
  • booking assistance or local support expressly described in a confirmed order.

Website content and an enquiry acknowledgement are not booking confirmations. A booking exists only after availability has been checked, the traveller has received a final order or itinerary showing the selected service and price, payment has been accepted, and we have issued a booking confirmation.

The booking confirmation will identify the ordinary support channel and a monitored on-trip or service-day contact method for urgent operational issues, together with its operating hours and time zone. That contact is for time-sensitive matters affecting a confirmed Service; billing, refund and privacy requests should use the contacts stated in Sections 7, 17 and 20.

Live availability, opening hours, ticket inventory, traffic, weather and supplier operations may change. The final order, confirmed itinerary, these Terms and any written, mutually accepted change form the booking agreement.

4. Orders, availability and delivery

Before checkout, the order must identify, as applicable:

  • the product, package and service date;
  • the number of travellers and any age-based ticket requirements;
  • meeting or pickup details, expected duration and service language;
  • included tickets, transport, guiding, clothing rental, photography or other services;
  • exclusions, optional upgrades and traveller-paid expenses;
  • the total amount, currency, taxes and any mandatory fees; and
  • any booking-specific cancellation terms that are more specific than Section 7.

The traveller must check these details before paying. A browser return page, payment screenshot or pending bank authorisation is not proof that a booking is confirmed. We verify the payment record and send a durable confirmation.

If a service is unavailable after payment, we will offer a materially comparable alternative for the traveller's express approval or provide the refund required by Section 7 and applicable law. We will not force the traveller to accept store credit.

5. Prices, taxes and payment

Prices are shown before checkout. The checkout must display the final amount and currency, including applicable taxes or mandatory fees. Optional extras require the traveller's express selection and may not be added after payment without separate consent.

5.1 Published product prices and calculation

Fixed-price, bookable products show their package prices directly on their product page and in the booking form; travellers do not need to submit an enquiry to see those prices. As of the “Last updated” date below, the published prices for our current bookable product, From Hanfu to High-Rises — Experience the Best of Shanghai in One Day, are:

  • Essential: USD 99 per person;
  • Signature: USD 399 per person; and
  • Premium: USD 599 per person.

For this Shanghai product, the total shown before payment is the selected package price multiplied by the number of travellers. The product page identifies the services included with each package and the exclusions. Meals, personal purchases and any optional upgrade not expressly selected are not included. If a tax or mandatory fee applies at checkout, we show its amount and the final total before the traveller pays.

These prices apply only to the Shanghai product identified above. Future tours, private services and custom arrangements may use different packages, currencies or pricing bases. Each bookable product will show its own price, pricing basis, inclusions, exclusions and any applicable taxes or mandatory fees on its product page and before payment. For a custom service without a fixed public price, we will provide a written quote showing the total, currency, inclusions and exclusions before requesting payment. A price change applies only to a future purchase after the revised price has been displayed; it does not change the price of a confirmed booking.

Each payment for a travel booking is a one-time payment, not a subscription, automatic renewal, credit purchase or automatic top-up. Depending on the product, the final order may require full payment or a clearly disclosed deposit followed by a balance. Any deposit amount, balance amount and due date must be shown before the deposit is paid. Unless a lawful future-payment authorisation was separately and expressly obtained, a later balance requires a new payment action by the traveller. Completing one payment does not otherwise authorise a later charge.

Where identified at checkout, Waffo.com Limited and its applicable affiliate (Waffo Pancake) acts as merchant of record and authorised reseller for the transaction. Waffo Pancake processes the payment and may issue the receipt or invoice, calculate and collect applicable transaction taxes, and administer payment-related refunds, disputes and chargebacks. Local Lens China remains the travel-service seller responsible for product descriptions, product-related support, fulfilment and refunds as described in these Terms.

Full payment-card numbers and card security codes are submitted directly to Waffo Pancake and are not stored on Local Lens China servers. Waffo and Local Lens China each process personal information for their respective purposes as described in our Privacy Policy and Waffo's Privacy Policy.

The checkout and receipt will identify the payment and seller information applicable to the transaction. Check the amount and currency before paying. Your card issuer may separately apply exchange rates or foreign-transaction fees that we do not control.

Payment availability may depend on the customer's country, device, currency, payment method, sanctions screening, product type and the applicable provider's supported markets. Do not attempt to circumvent a payment, product or geographic restriction.

6. Inclusions and exclusions

Only items expressly included in the confirmed order are included in the price. A sample itinerary, recommendation, photograph or reference to a possible stop does not by itself create a paid entitlement.

For every product, the product page and final order must clearly distinguish included services from exclusions, optional upgrades and expenses paid directly by the traveller. A reference to a possible attraction, restaurant, hotel, vehicle, activity or service in editorial content or a sample itinerary does not make it part of the booking.

Meals, food and drinks are excluded unless the product page and confirmed order expressly identify them as included. A scheduled meal break, restaurant visit or dining recommendation does not by itself include the meal price or create a meal allowance. If a meal or allowance is included, the order must describe its scope and any material restrictions.

Unless the confirmed order expressly states otherwise, flights, accommodation, visa services, personal insurance, personal shopping, gratuities, meals, optional activities and unselected upgrades are excluded.

Hotel pickup does not necessarily mean that a private vehicle is available throughout the day. Optional services become part of the order only after they are quoted and expressly selected.

7. Cancellation, changes and refunds

7.1 How to request a change or cancellation

Email locallenschina@yeah.net from the booking contact address and include the booking number, service date and requested change. The request is received when it reaches that monitored mailbox. We aim to acknowledge it within 24 hours.

If a problem occurs while the Service is being delivered, tell the responsible service provider or the urgent service contact as soon as reasonably possible so that we have a fair opportunity to investigate and offer a practical remedy. A failure to report an issue immediately does not by itself remove any mandatory consumer right or prevent a later complaint where immediate reporting was not reasonably possible.

7.2 Traveller cancellation

Unless a clearer booking-specific schedule was prominently disclosed before payment, a traveller who cancels before the service starts will receive the amount paid, less only:

  • services already properly supplied at the traveller's request; and
  • reasonable, itemised and genuinely non-recoverable third-party costs already incurred for that booking after reasonable efforts to reduce or recover them.

We will explain any deduction and provide supporting information where reasonably available. If no permitted cost has been incurred, the cancellation refund is the full amount paid. A late arrival, missed pickup or no-show does not automatically result in forfeiture of the entire payment; the same itemised-cost approach applies, subject to applicable law and any prominently disclosed booking-specific condition.

7.3 Cancellation or material change by us

If we cancel and do not provide an agreed alternative, the traveller will receive a full refund for the unprovided Service. If we propose a material change to the date, route, included service, service standard or supplier, the traveller may accept it or reject it and receive the refund required for the affected Service. A different attraction or lower service level is not automatically equivalent.

7.4 Duplicate charges, billing errors and unavailable services

Confirmed duplicate or erroneous charges are refunded in full. If a paid Service is unavailable or materially not as described, we will provide an appropriate replacement, price reduction or refund as required by these Terms and applicable law. Where a payment provider acts as merchant of record for an eligible transaction, it may also issue a refund where required by law, payment-network rules, its merchant-of-record obligations or the applicable refund policy.

7.5 Refund timing and method

We aim to decide a complete refund request within five business days after receiving the information reasonably needed to assess it. Once approved, we will instruct the applicable payment provider to initiate the refund to the original payment method within five business days. Banks and payment networks may require additional processing time. We will provide the amount, currency, deductions and available refund reference.

Nothing in this Section limits a mandatory cancellation, cooling-off, package-travel or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded. Contacting us does not waive a traveller's right to use an applicable consumer, tourism, court or card-dispute process. A traveller may not recover the same loss twice.

8. Itinerary changes and events outside reasonable control

Weather, government action, attraction closure, transport disruption, safety conditions or another event outside reasonable control may require a change. We will communicate material changes promptly, explain their price effect and offer lawful alternatives or refunds. Such an event does not automatically allow us to retain payment for a Service that is not provided.

Both parties must take reasonable steps to reduce avoidable loss. Mandatory rights under applicable law continue to apply.

9. Local suppliers, licences and responsibility

We hold the tourism business qualifications required for the travel Services we sell and remain the seller responsible for performance and refunds under the confirmed booking. Some components may be performed by qualified guides, drivers, attractions, clothing-rental studios, photographers or other local suppliers engaged by us. Before payment, the order must disclose any service-providing party or supplier condition where required by law or where it materially affects cancellation, safety or delivery.

We will not process payment on behalf of an undisclosed third-party merchant.

The traveller must follow reasonable safety instructions and provide accurate booking information. Travellers should disclose only information reasonably needed to arrange accessibility, dietary or other requested assistance. We do not guarantee that every attraction, vehicle or restaurant can meet a particular requirement unless confirmed in writing.

Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The booking adult is responsible for supervision and for providing accurate ages where a supplier or attraction uses age-based admission rules.

10. Travel documents, health, activity suitability and insurance

10.1 Passports, visas and entry requirements

Travellers are responsible for checking and holding the passport, visa, permit and other documentation required for their nationality, route, transit points and travel dates. Requirements and immigration decisions can change and are controlled by the relevant authorities.

If we provide general visa or entry information, it is informational assistance rather than legal or immigration advice and does not guarantee that an application, entry or transit will be approved. Where a confirmed Service requires identity or travel-document details for a named ticket or supplier, the traveller must provide accurate information and check any confirmation we send. We remain responsible for correcting an error caused by us, subject to these Terms and applicable law.

10.2 Health, mobility and activity suitability

Depending on the selected product, a travel experience may involve extended walking, stairs, uneven terrain, crowded public areas, long periods of standing or travel, altitude, outdoor weather, heat, cold, rain, boats or other transport, physical activities, and the use or changing of clothing or equipment. The applicable product description and booking confirmation must identify the material demands, known accessibility limitations and participation restrictions relevant to that particular product.

Before booking, travellers should consider whether the itinerary is suitable for their health, mobility and comfort and should obtain advice from an appropriately qualified professional where needed. Travellers should tell us, using the minimum necessary information, about an accessibility or assistance request that may materially affect delivery. We will explain what can and cannot be accommodated and will not promise an adjustment until it is confirmed in writing.

Travellers must follow reasonable safety instructions from guides, attractions, transport operators and public authorities. We and our suppliers must still exercise the level of care required by the booking and applicable law; this Section does not transfer to the traveller a risk caused by our negligence or remove a liability that cannot legally be excluded.

10.3 Travel insurance

We strongly recommend that travellers obtain suitable insurance for their circumstances, including medical treatment, personal accident, trip cancellation or interruption, transport disruption, loss of belongings and any activity-specific risk. Insurance is not included unless the confirmed order expressly says so. A decision not to obtain insurance does not remove any refund, consumer or liability right that applies independently under these Terms or law.

11. Photography and personal belongings

Photography is included only when the selected package and confirmed order expressly say so. Included photography means the agreed photography service and private delivery; it does not grant permission to use a traveller's likeness in advertising, social media, a portfolio or publicity. Any promotional use requires separate, voluntary consent, and refusal does not affect the purchased Service.

Travellers remain responsible for ordinary care of their belongings. Any claim for loss or damage to rented clothing or equipment must distinguish normal wear from attributable damage and be supported by a reasonable valuation. It does not authorise an automatic card charge.

12. Planner and informational content

Editorial guides, route suggestions and automated planning outputs are general information, not legal, immigration, medical, safety or professional advice. Automated output can be incomplete, inaccurate or outdated and must be checked against current official or supplier information before booking or travel. We do not currently send traveller planner content to an external artificial-intelligence provider. If that changes, we will update our Privacy Policy before enabling the relevant feature.

By submitting planner or enquiry content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive permission to process that content only as needed to provide, secure and improve the requested Service, subject to our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains the relevant categories of processing and recipients.

13. Acceptable use

You may not use the Website or Services to:

  • break the law, facilitate fraud or misrepresent your identity;
  • interfere with security, access controls or normal operation;
  • scrape or extract the Website at scale without permission;
  • infringe intellectual-property, privacy or publicity rights;
  • upload malicious code or use the Service for phishing, harassment or deception;
  • make an unauthorised booking or payment using another person's details; or
  • evade sanctions, geographic restrictions, payment controls or supplier rules.

We may refuse or cancel a request connected with fraud, unlawful activity, serious safety risk or a material breach of these Terms, subject to applicable refund and consumer rights.

14. Privacy and communications

Our Privacy Policy explains the personal information we collect, why we use it, who receives it, how long we keep it and the rights available to travellers.

Service messages about an enquiry, booking, safety, payment, refund or policy are not marketing messages. We do not currently send promotional email, SMS or WhatsApp marketing. If we introduce promotional marketing, we will first obtain any consent required by applicable law and provide a clear opt-out.

15. Intellectual property

The Website's original text, design, branding and software belong to us or our licensors. Third-party photographs and materials remain subject to their stated licences. These Terms do not transfer ownership of that material.

Photography is used under the Unsplash and Pexels licenses; the Wuyishan editorial visual was created for Local Lens China.

You retain rights in content you submit. You must have the right to provide it and must not submit another person's sensitive information without a lawful reason and appropriate authority.

16. Disclaimers and liability

We use reasonable care in preparing Services, but live travel conditions and third-party information can change. The Website and free informational content are provided on an “as available” basis.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where the law prohibits exclusion. Nothing removes mandatory consumer, tourism or package-travel rights.

Each party is responsible for loss that is a reasonably foreseeable consequence of its breach or negligence, subject to applicable law. Neither party is responsible for loss caused solely by the other party's unlawful act or failure to take reasonable steps to reduce avoidable loss.

17. Complaints and payment disputes

For a product, booking or billing issue, email locallenschina@yeah.net with the booking or transaction reference. We aim to acknowledge the request within 24 hours and to correct a confirmed billing error within five business days.

Waffo handles first-level payment, receipt, refund and chargeback support where it acts as merchant of record. We handle travel-product questions, itinerary delivery and on-the-ground service issues and remain responsible for the delivery, support and refund obligations described in these Terms. We will cooperate with Waffo, payment networks and lawful consumer or tourism authorities as required.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without depriving a consumer of mandatory protections that apply in the consumer's place of residence or the place where the Service is performed.

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve the matter. If it cannot be resolved, either party may use a consumer, tourism, regulatory or judicial process that has jurisdiction under applicable law.

19. Changes, severability and assignment

The version accepted for an existing booking continues to govern that booking unless a change is required by law or the traveller expressly accepts a replacement. We may update these Terms prospectively. We will post the new effective date and give reasonable advance notice of a material change where required.

If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. We may not transfer responsibility for a confirmed booking in a way that reduces mandatory traveller rights. The traveller may not transfer a booking unless we and any affected supplier approve the change, acting reasonably.

20. Contact and electronic acceptance

For questions about these Terms, bookings, billing, refunds, privacy or security:

  • Email: locallenschina@yeah.net
  • Website: https://locallenschina.com
  • Legal operator: Yidefeinuo (Shanghai) Culture Media Co., Ltd. (registered Chinese name: 意德斐诺(上海)文化传媒有限公司)
  • Registered address: Room 701, Nos. 190 and 200 Haifang Road, Jing'an District, Shanghai, China

The version shown below is the current version of these Terms. The version in effect when a booking is made governs that booking, subject to any mandatory rights and any later change expressly agreed with the traveller.
